Story

Imagine the impact 15,000 volunteers can have on one EPIC Day! On May 18th, Rotary Clubs like mine will organize, fund, and serve projects for communities across all of Wyoming and Colorado. My Club, Lakewood Foothills Rotary, is working to raise $12,000 to help continue our work throughout the year.

How can you help? Rotary’s EPIC Day of Service encourages us to do all we can to make our communities and our world a better place. I am hoping you will help by donating to support my Club’s Rotary projects in Jefferson County, other west suburbs of Denver, and two international projects.

Here are ways that Lakewood Foothills Rotary’s service focusses on making a difference for youth and families:

·         Jeffco Eats helps students and families by providing food over the weekends and extended breaks like the upcoming summer so that no child goes hungry. They are currently providing bags of food for over five hundred families each weekend. We help fund Jeffco Eats’ partnership with Food Bank of Rockies and the Jeffco Public Schools federal Title I Schools program.

·         Serving Kids provides new, and near-new clothing and shoes collected by community members for school children who are without resources to obtain suitable changes of clothes. Our support purchases socks, underwear, and other things not collected.

·         Metro West Housing Solutions – We provide gift cards for their families most in need of additional food and have other expenses during the special family times of Thanksgiving and Christmas.

·         Scholarships for WarrenTech graduates continuing for post-secondary training who have a moderate expense not covered by standard financial aid programs.

·         Rotary Youth Leadership Camp is a life-changing leadership training program for young men and women from CO, WY, and NE to learn leadership concepts and skills, then personalize them in an atmosphere of trust and respect. We pay all the students’ expenses.

·         ShelterBox is the premier international aid organization that provides emergency shelter and life-saving equipment in locations around the world. Every year my Rotary Club funds ShelterBoxes for families who will survive though natural disasters or political strife.

·      Rotary Village in Juarez, Mexico a partnership between Lakewood Foothills Rotary and Club Rotario Juarez Integra and Club Rotario Juarez Campestre. Prefab houses are built by students in the Colorado Homebuilding Academy. A Mexican company transports them to Juarez where they are erected in the Rotary Village. For over twenty-five years this has resulted in fifty houses for deserving families who the Rotarians in Juarez have identified.

If you can, please donate $25 (or more.)

Your support means a lot to me, and immensely more to the families whose lives you’ll touch.

THANK YOU!
