Denver Cherry Creek Rotary

Each year the Denver Cherry Creek Rotary Club and its Foundation set a budget to utilize our fundraising proceeds to support our local and international communities. These philanthropic funds were made available through generous contributions from members and friends of the Club, several key fundraising projects in our community, and accessing Rotary matching.  DCCR Club Members have volunteered thousands of hours to make these projects happen.  Keep reading to see examples of how those dollars have made a difference!

Community Service:  Notable and representative projects include

  • Partnered with other Rotary clubs to create a $500,000 permanent Rotary mental health fellowship at Childrens Hospital
  • Partnered with Project Worthmore in a variety of ways to support Denver’s refugee community.  Key areas included addressing food insecurity and providing equipment for in-clinic dental care.
  • Volunteer club members provided clean-up and painting for a resident senior in the community in partnership with Brothers Redeveloipment Paint-a-Thon program
  • Rehabilitated apartments provided by Joy House used to house battered women and their children.
  • Cooked and served hot meals for clients of Joshua Street
  • Sponsored and staffed annual computer and electronics community recycling events with PCs for People

International Service:   Notable and representative projects include

  • Led a dental mission to Honduras, where numerous Club members volunteer in both dental and administrative capacities to serve hundreds of patients

  • Provided emergency shelter, tools, and household supplies to displaced families after disaster and conflict through ShelterBox

Youth and Literacy:  Notable and representative projects include

  • Rotary Youth Leadership Awards:  Sponsored about 10 students (8th grade or high school) each year to attend a 5-day overnight leadership camp in the mountains, and volunteered 3-5 Club members to serve as senior counselors
  • Major sponsor of the East High school Robotics team
  • Provided thousands of dollars in scholarships to help students and refugees afford continued education or vocational training and certification.
  • Sponsored an essay-writing contest for middle-schoolers to foster creative expression and writing skills
